ATTENTION STUDENTS NEW TO MONTANA WESTERN THIS SEMESTER!
 
All new and transfer students who did not attend UMW this Fall and are borrowing loans for Spring 2012 must attend a live loan counseling session.  Loans will not disburse until the counseling is complete. Stop by the Financial Aid office to schedule a loan counseling session or if you have any questions.
 
Athletics:
 
The Montana Western women's basketball team will host its fourth annual Pink Zone game Friday, February 17th against Montana Tech. All proceeds benefit the Southwest Montana mammography program at Barrett Hospital in Dillon. 
 
Come out and support our Lady Bulldogs and the Pink Zone. It will be a great game and it is a great cause.  Don't forget to wear your pink.
 
City league volleyball coming soon! 
UMW volleyball will be organizing our annual city league volleyball starting March 13. Everyone is invited to participate and join in the fun. Start getting your teams together and look for registration information soon!

College Goal Montana, Sunday February 12 from 1-4 p.m. in the STC computer labs. Get FREE, one-on-one help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students who complete their FAFSA at this event are entered in a drawing for a $500 scholarship
 
Campus Community Garden Volunteer Day:
 
Yes, it's that time of year already!  Join us at the Campus Community Garden for spring cleaning!  We'll be sprucing up last years' plots and getting the greenhouses ready for spring planting.  Meet at the garden (east end of Cornell St.) on Friday, Feb. 10, 3:30-5:30.  Contact Leah Grunzke (l_grunzke@umwestern.edu) for more information.

Montana Western’s Weight Loss Challenge
 
Would you like to lose weight the healthy way? Would you like to win $300 or even $200 for doing so?  Well, join the Weight Loss Challenge and lose pounds to win big $$$! Winners will be determined by the % of weight loss.
 
Date: Contest begins Tuesday, February 7th & ends Tuesday, April 3rd

Location: Weekly weigh-ins will be performed in the Wellness Office (PE 214) with Wellness Coordinator, Jenny Peterson.

Study Abroad:
 
Join the Honors 202/402: Experience Ireland class for an extended visit to the Emerald Isle during Block A of Summer 2012. The trip, May 14-28, 2012, is open to interested faculty, staff, students, and community members.
 
Travel with us on an escorted bus tour to Ireland’s cultural and artistic capital of Galway, and continue exploring the land of leprechauns in cities such as Sligo, Belfast, and Cork. We’ll view the spectacular Cliffs of Moher, ferry across the Galway Bay for a guided tour of the remote Aran Islands, visit the Blarney Castle, the seaport of Cobh, and explore the mountains of the Ring of Kerry. And that’s just the beginning!
 
We’ll depart from Salt Lake City, UT, on May 15, and spend eleven days abroad. The program fees for the trip are $3600 for twenty paying participants (additional fees may apply). Program fees include round trip airfare, hotel accommodations, continental breakfast daily, and full-time services of a Contemporary Tours Director.

This is what happened to Montana Resident Carly Moodry. She had simply forgotten to "click it" and what followed has changed her life forever. She came face to face with death. And to this day, she regrets her decision to not buckle up.

2nd annual UM-Western Outlawz rugby club luau and dance fundraiser!
When: Saturday, February 25th, 2012
Where: Elks Lodge, Dillon, MT
Time: Doors open @6:45pm
What: Silent auctioning, service auctioning of 7 rugby players, live Hawaiian music, Hawaiian authentic dinner, door prizes, and dance, dance, dance!
Dinner tickets (includes dance): $10 for children and students $15 for adults
Dinner menu: Kalua pork (Hawaiian pulled pork), white rice, crab salad, lomi salmon, Polynesian refreshing fruit drink, and dessert.
 
Program of event:
6:45pm:Doors open for dinner participants only
7:00pm-8:30pm:Silent auctioning
7:00-8:15pm:Dinner with live Hawaiian band performance
