The center was created in the early 1990’s by faculty and students who saw the need for an office and volunteer staff dedicated to promoting student community service, and assisting faculty with incorporating service-learning projects into their classes.  The National Service Organization, AmeriCorps is based out of the Center for Service-Learning.
